Proper Care

In order to properly care for your Shifman mattress and boxspring, below are some suggestions that will help to maintain your product.

  1. Shifman recommends that you turn your mattress once a month for the first six months and twice a year thereafter.  Flip side to side the first time, then the next time head-to-foot.  Continue to alternate flips in order to use all four sleeping surfaces.  One-sided mattresses should be rotated head to foot.  Body impressions in a new mattress are normal and indicate the comfort level is conforming to your body’s contours.  These are not structural defects.  Turning your mattress will equalize these impressions.
  2. It is not necessary to put a board between your mattress and boxspring.  This will cause premature wear.
  3. Do not allow children to jump on your Shifman mattress as it could affect the comfort level of your mattress over time.
  4. Mattress handles should only be used for positioning the mattress.  Never attempt to lift a mattress by the handles.
  5. Avoid stains by using a quilted protector pad.
  6. The white cloth law label on both your mattress and boxspring serve for identification and establishes warranty rights. Removal of this label will void the warranty.
  7. Mattresses need matching boxsprings or a platform bed for proper and even support. The full warranty applies to matching sets and one-half of the warranty applies to a mattress on a platform bed.
  8. King mattresses may be bent or folded from head-to-foot. Bending in any other way would damage the innerspring beyond repair. Your warranty will not cover damage caused in this manner.
  9. King and queen sized bedding requires a heavy-duty metal frame with rigid center support and legs. Wood or metal beds require at least five rigid hardwood slats with center legs or rails for proper support. Failure to use proper frame or support will void the warranty.
